AIM

"We aim to investigate the feasibility of decarbonizing O&M activities for offshore wind farms using Green Hydrogen as an alternative fuel."

Objective

The following objectives were identified in order achieve this aim:

  • Estimate the annual energy production for a given offshore wind farm.

  • Develop a method of accurately estimating the number of turbine failures for a given year.

  • Categorise the type of failures and required vessel deployment.

  • Calculate the fuel consumption by the vessels during the simulated operations and maintenance activities.

  • Calculate an equivalent volume of Hydrogen to complete meet this fuel consumption.

  • Calculate the total energy consumed through the Hydrogen production process (Desalination, PEM Electrolysis and compression to storage conditions)

  • Estimate the yearly cost of this process along with a levelized cost of Hydrogen (LCOH)
